Join Callie Russell and the Caprakhan Herd this summer in North West Montana. 

Do you love animals? Do you love working outside? Do you want to experience living off grid and tending a goat herd? Do you love goat milk and cheese? 

If so, this may be the perfect opportunity for you!

Daily activities: 

-Milking 3 goats by hand 

-Making cheese and/or keifer/yogurt 

-Walking goats in the forest so they can forage

DATES: Minimum commitment June 1st - July 15th 

EXCHANGE: I will teach you everything you need to know about tending a subsistence goat herd and then you will be able to experience caring for the goats without me. I will be here to mentor you from June 1st until June 12th and then I will be gone for a month, during which you get to fly solo!

This is not paid, and doesn’t not cost money, the exchange is lots of learning, all the goat milk you can drink, a place stay, and a unique experience in exchange for watching the goats for me so I can go to Africa. 

You will have 2-3 gallons of goat milk to play with daily, it’s a great opportunity to make cheese, and be able to experiment. 

While I am gone, the milk is yours to do what you want with, you can make lots of cheese to take with you, or you can make some money by selling the milk in town.

This would be a great experience for a solo person, or for a couple or pair of friends. 

It’s a great opportunity to see if getting goats is right for you, or to just to take a break from your normal life to be in nature and experience non-stop “goat- therapy” :)

Note: Preference will likely be given to someone with precious experience with goats and hand milking specifically, but if you don’t have experience it’s okay, just be honest, I am willing to train the person that’s the right fit :)
